If you have a special family recipe send it to us and I'll add it to this section. You would be surprised at how many people don't like fish because they have never had it prepared correctly. Many of my friends love fish once they've tasted my dad's famous recipes. Fish need to be cared for properly or they will never provide a great tasting meal. See you on the water, Chris

My Grandma's Sheephead Recipe
Ever caught a sheephead while walleye fishing but thought they weren't worth keeping? Better think again. My grandma's recipe can help you whip up a great meal.
Here is what you will need:
1 sheephead - prefer a smaller fish
1 cup milk
Garlic, white pepper, lemon juice, paprika
Cedar plank 6 inches by 15 inches (available at Home Depot or Lowes)
Soak cedar plank in water for two hours
Fillet sheephead just like a walleye, be sure to skin the fillets - DON'T scale it. Soak the fillets in milk for about one hour. Remove from milk, season lightly with garlic, white pepper, lemon juice, and a touch of paprika for color. Preheat oven to 425 for 15 minutes. Place sheephead fillets on the cedar plank. Bake for 30 minutes or until meat flakes with a fork. Remove from oven, let cool for 5 minutes. Remove sheephead fillet from the cedar plank. Throw fish in the trash can and eat the cedar plank. |
