 Guides and Charters

Captain Lance Valentine and his "Walleye 101 Approved" Guides offer a great alternative to traditional charter trips.  All Walleye 101 charters are "hands on" educational trips where you will be actively involved in the fishing.  We specialize in the Detroit River, Lake Erie, Saginaw Bay and Houghton Lake.  Whether you are interested in walleye, perch or steelhead we can customize a trip to meet your needs.  You should always talk to the guide or charter captain before you book a trip to make sure your expectations are a good fit with the captains style of fishing.

We have guide listings for each body of water.  Where are you going fishing?

Detroit River
The Detroit River is hot from early April through the end of May.  With over 10 million walleye in the system you have a great chance at both a trophy fish and a full livewell for that family fish fry....learn more

Lake Erie
One of the greatest places on earth to catch a trophy walleye.  Big fish are caught consistently during April and again from October through December.  Weather is a big factor particularly during the fall bite...learn more

Saginaw Bay
"The Bay" is on fire right now with massive numbers of fish throughout the system.  It's hard to beat this location for consistency all year.  Lots of "eaters" and the occassional trophy...learn more

Lake St Clair
This one is likely to be a mixed bag of walleye, bass, and maybe even muskie.  Most guides will focus on bass but walleye are mixed in on many trips.  Trolling cranks, tube baits, and harnesses take most of the fish ....learn more

Houghton Lake
Lots of opportunities on Michigan's second biggest inland lake.  Trolling, jigging in the weeds, slip bobbers, and casting are all options for hooking up with a few walleye during the summer.   You probably won't catch any trophies but it's a pretty good bet you'll see lots of action....guide list coming soon
