Bottomline is located directly across from the Erie Metro Park entrance. Near the very southern end of the Detroit River and near Lake Erie. Very good selection of bait including minnows, crawlers, and a large selection of local and regional tackle. Minnows can be a problem in this area during the summer months as many of the bait shops catch their own supply - so call ahead. They can also run low during the peak of the walleye run in April and May.
Bottomline sells both Michigan and Ohio fishing licenses year round. Ontario licenses are available February-April and take a couple days to arrive back at the store. You can order them over the phone.
Directions: Easy to find. From I75 take exit #29 and go east until you hit Jefferson Avenue. Turn right (south) and Bottomline will be on your right side about 1.7 miles down Jefferson. The bait shop is directly across from Lake Erie Metro Park. |

Riviera Market is a one stop shop. The store has a good selection of bait and tackle. They also have Michigan fishing licenses year round. The food selection includes large sandwiches and subs as well as fried chicken and pizza with weekly food specials. There is a wide variety of beer, wine, and pop as well as snack foods for fishing and boating trips.Conveniently located near the Grosse Ile free bridge (south bridge) and the Elizabeth Park launch ramp.
Directions: Easy to find. Riviera Market is located just south of Trenton at the intersection of West Jefferson Ave and Van Horn Rd. They are just south of Grosse Ile Parkway (the road to the Elizabeth Park boat ramp). |

Trenton Light House is located north of the Elizabeth Park ramp, near the downtown area of Trenton. Very good selection of bait including minnows and crawlers, good selection of local and regional tackle, sandwiches, sodae, etc. Minnows can be a problem in this area during the summer months as many of the bait shops catch their own supply - so call ahead. They can also run low during the peak of the walleye run in April and May.
Directions: Easy to find. From I75 take exit #32 (West Rd) and go east until you hit Jefferson Avenue (about 4 miles). Turn right (south) and Trenton Light House will be on your left side about a block down Jefferson.

The Bait & Tackle Box is one of the newest bait shops on the Detroit River. The store has a good selection of local bait and tackle. They can issue Michigan fishing licenses year round. Conveniently located near the Grosse Ile free bridge (south bridge) and the Elizabeth Park launch ramp.

The Dip Net is located near the mid point of the Detroit River and close to the Ecorse and Wyandotte boat ramps. Good selection of bait including minnows and local tackle. Minnows can be a problem in this area during the summer months as many of the bait shops catch their own supply - so call ahead. They can also run low during the peak of the walleye run in April and May. The folks at the Dip Net also manage the Wyandotte Boat Ramp and should be able to provide you up to date reports on action in the area.
Directions: Easy to find. From I75 or I94 take Southfield Road south until you hit Jefferson. Make a right turn and the Dip Net is on your right side - basically on the corner of Southfield Road and Jefferson. No parking lot and there is very limited parking for boat trailers on Jefferson so you might need to walk a little way to the shop. |

Mitzie's Closed in 2010
Mitzies is located just south of Mud Island and is accessible from both Jefferson Ave and the Detroit River by boat. They have fuel, restrooms, sandwiches, hot dogs, beer, ice, and some marine supplies. They sell licenses but do not carry bait and have very little tackle. Mitzie's also offers overnight boat storage in a fenced lot for $5.00 per night, but no on water storage.
Directions:
By Car: A little hard to find if traveling by car. It's about two blocks south of the Southfield Road & Jefferson intersection. The entrance is on the river side of Jefferson Ave just south of the boardwalk that runs along the Detroit River. Very limited parking.
By Boat: Cant miss it. Brightly colored building south of Mud Island and north of the Ecorse and Wyandotte boat ramps. |
